I've been on several fitness hikes with Sunita. All of her hikes are amazing and so different from each other that you feel challenged and entertained every time. The hikes are not only about getting fit but also about seeing beautiful landscapes, meeting new people. Sunita always takes us to fun cool restaurants for appetizers and drinks after. Sunita is always well prepared and so energized that she infects all of the hikers with laughter and passion for an active lifestyle.
I had a wonderful experience hiking along the coast with Sunita and my new hiking buddies to Alamere Falls. The hike level for me was a combination of easy, moderate to somewhat difficult especially scrambling down to the falls, stepping on rocks to cross and going up after but I truly enjoyed every bit of it and it added to our excitement! When we reached the middle cliff, we settled and had our leisurely lunch with the best view ever! Sunita provided each of us with insulated lunch bag filled with food! Chicken salad sandwich neatly prepared. Sunita also provided plenty of water to take during the hike. So organized! After our hike, Sunita took us to the historic Sand Dollar restaurant at Stinson Beach for wine, and delicious appetizers (tons) and See's candies for dessert. Thank you Sunita for sharing this place with us. I did not know until now (because of Sunita) that Alamere Falls is one of America's Top 10 Best Waterfalls. I can't wait for our next hike!!
I have always wanted to explore and hike the beautiful Bay Area; especially Big Sur & Point ¨Reyes. However, I kept putting it off, because it seemed to be a daunting task “ I would have to research the trails, find where to park, call friends to see who was free to hike with me, map out the hike, etc. I heard about Sunita from another instructor about an avid hiker and fitness enthusiast (and a bootcamp and Zumba instructor), who organizes small group hikes in the Bay Area! I decided to join the hike to Big Sur with Sunita Goldstein “ aka Shapin with Sunita !¨ Sunita organized the carpool to Big Sur “ all I had to do is to show up at the Foster City Rec parking lot, our designated meeting spot, with my hiking boots and a backpack. When I arrived, Sunita handed me 2 bottles of water, an orange, trail mix, and an insulated soft lunch box. ¨ When we arrived at Big Sur, Sunita navigated the trails for us, and encouraged us when we looked tired, and told us interesting facts about Big Sur. At the top of a cliff, with a picture postcard view of the ocean, we sat to eat our delicious gourmet lunch. After our (9 mile) hike, we relaxed with wine, and a wonderful appetizer spread. I enjoyed relaxing and talking with my fellow hikers, my new friends. ¨When I arrived home, I told my husband what an exciting day I hadhiking Big Sur! The bottom line is that he decided right then and there to join me on Sunita's hike the following weekend to Point Reyes! I must also add that Sunita's warm personality made the trip even more special. She is truly a lovely person, and my husband and I look forward to hiking more Bay Area trails with her.
